Rhodium is a transition metal with an atomic number of 45. It is an ultra-rare, silvery-white, hard, corrosion-resistant, chemically inert transition metal.

Applications
Rhodium is predominantly used in the automobile industry in catalytic converters in cars. It is also used within the chemical industry to make nitric acid, acetic acid and hydrogenation reactions. Rhodium is used in nuclear reactors and within the pharmaceutical industry. Rhodium can be used as a protective coat to shield jewelry from scratches.

Challenges
Rhodium resources are being depleted. Recovering it from the acidic liquors used in the metals plating industry is desirable.

Solutions
Resin technology is used to recover rhodium from acidic liquors.

Recovery from Acidic Liquors

Rhodium leaching is the process of extracting dissolved platinum from a solution. Selective rhodium recovery from acidic liquors may be done using the Puromet™ MTS9140, with thiourea functionality.
