Weak Acid Cation (WAC) Porous

The Ecolab weak acid cation porous ion exchange resin family of products have carboxylic functional groups and give high chemical efficiency in many applications.  This includes the removal of bicarbonate alkalinity, dealkalization and softening of water.  This product has also been used to selectively recover transition metals from aqueous solutions and may be operated at relatively high temperatures.

It is typically used prior to a strong acid cation resin bed in order to reduce the ionic load.  

Because of it’s lower density than strong acid resins, they are ideal for use in layered beds. 

Typical applications for WAC resins:

  • Dealkalization

  • Deionization

  • Softening

  • Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)

  • Temporary hardness removal

  • Softening - high TDS waters
