Removal from Boiler Feedwater

Boiler feedwater quality often requires low sodium limits (< 5 ppb) for maximum boiler efficiency. In producing pure water via demineralization with ion exchange resins, sodium is removed by the strong acid cation exchange resin. The design of the unit operation must be such that sodium in the raw water is accommodated to prevent leakage of sodium to the boiler feedwater. Strong base anion resins in hydroxide form control high TOC and sodium levels within boiler feedwater.
