James Roberts, Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, is the Newest Member of The UK Financial Team.

May 7, 2019 – Wales, UK – Purolite is excited to welcome James Roberts as the newest member of the U.K. Financial team! James will assume the role of Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, and is responsible for providing suggestions and financial advice based on analysis of the current budget. In this new position, James Roberts will report to Leighton Davies, European Financial Controller.

“In my last role as an Auditor, I reached out to an external recruiter to see what my possibilities would be for doing something different. After only a few months, I was connected with Purolite. I wasn’t in any rush or need to switch jobs, but Purolite looked like it had a lot to offer,” James explains. He continues, “When considering a new position, I look closely at the culture and people at a company. Purolite stood out as one that genuinely cares about employees and sees them as more than a number—and the news and blog pages online showed that a united culture exists. During the interview, it was clear that individual attention given to each employee. The smaller office size was also appealing to me as a way to better know my co-workers.”

James has worked in many different industries. Graduating from Cardiff University in Wales, U.K. with a double degree in biochemistry and stem cell biology, he began his career in science research. He then moved to the renewable energy retail sector before joining a global finance company. “Time spent in different industries gives me perspective and allows me to address problems in different ways,” James shares.

James comes to Purolite from Cardiff, U.K., where he lives with his wife, daughter, and two cats—Lolli and Pop. Outside of work, James enjoys going to the gym, playing football (American soccer), and spending time with his family. He also enjoys listening to rock music. He looks to a popular football coach, Sir Alex Fergurson, for inspiration, because Fergurson constantly achieved success by using his strengths to his advantage. James’ favorite food is steak, but he is also an amazing baker. He hopes that his fellow employees will appreciate it when he brings home baked goods to the office.

On his new position, James would like everyone in Purolite to know, “I look forward to working closely with employees in all departments of the company and building upon the success of each. I have a thirst for knowledge that I hope will benefit me and Purolite in years to come.”
