Purolite Fundraisers: Raising money for Maggie’s Cancer Centre
Throughout 2022, our staff at Purolite are hosting a wide range of fundraising events to raise money for a charity close to our hearts, Maggie’s Cancer Centre.
From bake sales to bike rides, we’re dedicating all of our fundraising events in 2022 to raising money for our charity of the year. Purolite will also be doubling the amount of money our team raises across our charity events to help the organisation as much as we can.

Why Maggie's?
Selected by our colleagues, Maggie’s Cancer Centre is a charity close to the hearts of our staff. The organisation provides free cancer support and information to patients and their loved ones from their centres across the UK and online.
Based near a wide range of NHS Hospitals across the UK, Maggie’s helps people affected by cancer to take back control when cancer turns life upside down, offering professional support for anything from treatment side effects to financial concerns.
All of the support they provide is free of charge, and no appointment or referral is needed to access their services.
Our fundraising efforts will go towards helping them continue their fantastic work across the country.
What have we been doing?
The Bake Sale
For our first fundraising event of the year, we put our team’s baking skills to the test and asked all 160 members to don their aprons and get creative in the kitchen.
From innovative delights such as avocado bread and vegan jaffa cake muffins, to more traditional favourites like Victoria Sponge, it was a very busy day for our team - with plenty of cake to go around!
Overall, the bake sale helped us raise £618.86 for Maggies!
The Raffle Spring Ball
At our next event, we were pleased to finally host our first in-person event since the pandemic began with the easing of local restrictions - a Spring ball raffle!
This fantastic event brought together our team of remote workers, some of which had travelled from overseas to meet for the first time. We were also joined by many of our fantastic customers, and were grateful to receive some very generous donations.
By the end of the raffle, we raised a fantastic amount of £1546.00 for Maggie’s!
What's coming up?
With two fantastic events already under our belts, our fundraising efforts are only just getting started.
In June, our team members working at our HQ in Llantrisant will be taking part in our Cycle Challenge, where an electric bike will be kept running all day to raise money for every mile cycled.
Also in June, we’ll be taking part in the Spartan Race, a 10K, 25-obstacle race that blends speed, endurance and technical skill into one event.
In a further test of our team’s endurance, we’ll also be holding a fundraising event as we hike to the top of the Pen Y Fan mountain - the highest peak in all of South Wales!
Finally, in October a few members of our brave team will be taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon in support of Maggie’s.
