Francis Boodoo presents on "Technologies for PFAS Removal and comparing various alternatives for PFAS removal"

July 30th, 2019 – St. Petersburg, Florida – Francis Boodoo, Purolite’s Director of Applied Technologies, was recently invited to present a training seminar at the Rural Community Assistance Partnership’s (RCAP) National Training Conference. The invite-only event was attended by 200 individuals from all states, ranging from state regulators to water treatment facility operators, health department representatives, and academics.

With many states beginning to issue Maximum Contamination Levels (MCLs) on drinking water, water treatment facilities and others involved in the treatment of potable water may be unsure of who to turn to for technical assistance and solutions to their water contamination problems. The RCAP National Training Conference focuses on the best and most effective new technologies to achieve these new standards, and invited Francis to speak about the existing and new technologies to further educate owners and managers of treatment facilities about their available options.

Francis’s presentation, “Technologies for PFAS Removal and Comparing Various Alternatives for PFAS Removal” focused on the different available technologies for removal of PFAS contamination from drinking water. He highlighted Purolite’s ion exchange resins, which yield the best overall performance in reducing PFAS to non-detect levels and is the only available technology to treat both long- and short-chain PFAS. He also pointed out that Purolite ion exchange resins have 10 – 20 times the capacity of other available technologies, as well as a shorter initial rinse and conditioning period—which translates to fewer change-outs. With lower operational costs, fewer change-outs, and a very high rate of effectiveness, Purolite’s ion exchange resins can be trusted to address the current needs of the industry.
