Purolite, China becomes OHSAS 18001:2007 certified
March 4, 2018 - Zhejiang, China - The Purolite production plant in Huzhou, Zhejiang, China is now certified to the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard for occupational health and safety management for design, development and manufacture of ion exchange resins and adsorbents. OHSAS 18001 is the international Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management Standard that provides a process frame work for all things related to OH&S risk management and legal compliance.
Companies with OHSAS 18001:2007 certification have a demonstrated commitment to improving the safety at their facilities. The process takes many years and involves a focused commitment to identify workplace hazards and implement preventive controls aimed at preventing injury and keeping employees, customers and suppliers safe and healthy. The system also involves a review of conformance with legal requirements and improves the overall culture through a focus on training, safety and improved productivity. Certification indicates that a company has a clear structure for risk assessment with defined objectives for improvement and a strategy for measuring results.

The evaluation of processes and identification of workplace hazards takes a long time, dedication and introspection. But Purolite’s team members came together and took ownership of the project.” He then added, “The end result is not only a unified, consistent process to follow for years to come, but also a unified team that is quite proud of their contribution to keeping employees and visitors to our location as safe as possible.”
This is the first time that the facility in China obtained this certification. The official certification was given on January 24, 2018, and will remain valid until January 23, 2021. This certification follows Purolite operations in the UK and Romania, which were previously certified in December 2015. WIT Assessment Co., Ltd. In Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China is the certifying authority.
To maintain the certification, the facility will be audited each year to ensure that all processes are being followed and that proper training procedures are in place. Additionally, Purolite must conduct internal audits at regular intervals.
