Cannabis plants are great at accumulating metal contaminants from soil and are sometimes used for soil remediation as a way to remove these metals from the environment. This property of cannabis is undesirable when using the plant for recreational or medical purposes, as significant levels of toxic cadmium, lead, mercury and copper can be present.
