Battery Metals

The pursuit of clean energy has resulted in a massive growth in the need for materials used to manufacture wind turbines, solar power cells and electric vehicle batteries. Such materials include cobalt, nickel, manganese, lithium, aluminum and rare earth elements. To provide optimal performance, battery manufacturers demand high-purity salts, and a typical process flow includes several impurity removal steps.

Purolite offers a variety of technologies to assist in these removal processes. Ion exchange resins may target different impurities such as copper, zinc, cadmium and nickel. Chelating resins with unique functional groups can selectively target certain impurities, even in a highly concentrated background.

Purolite’s hydrometallurgy and metal processing ion exchange resins are used to target these valuable recycling materials.
