Purolite C115KMR is Polacrilin Potassium, a most effective tablet disintegrant supplied to the pharmaceutical industry. It is a weak acid carboxylic cation exchange resin in the potassium form. Its special chemical structure confers exceptional properties in combination with absolute freedom from toxicity (it is a harmless high molecular weight polymer which is not absorbed within tissues). Purolite C115KMR is delivered in a dry form which is substantially free of all types of bacteria and well within the specification values given below. These properties make it ideal for pharmaceutical applications. Purolite C115KMR may be mixed. as supplied, in any formulation, in a proportion of 0.5 to 5%, or higher if necessary. This dosage is considerably smaller than that recommended for other disintegrants while achieving identical results. The high swelling pressure produced on contact with water is independent of temperature. The incorporation, in the formulation of a suitable surface active agent (0.2% approx) gives excellent results. Additionally, it facilitates the compression process, by producing harder tablets. The product fully complies with the U.S.Pharmacopeia where it is listed under the name Polacrilin Potassium.
