Bioprocessing

Bioprocessing is used to produce biopharmaceuticals. These are typically proteins (including antibodies), nucleic acids (DNA, RNA or antisense oligonucleotides) used for therapeutic or in-vivo diagnostic purposes, and are produced by means other than direct extraction from a native biological source.

Purolite Life Sciences products are used in the purification of these biopharmaceutical drugs and therefore also must be manufactured under strict conditions and standards. In addition, because drugs are on the market for many years, security of supply during this period is of utmost importance.

The Praesto® range is a modern range of high-performing chromatography resins that deliver exceptional results on a high flow agarose base matrix with a porosity and pore structures ideal for the purification of large, complex biologics such as monoclonal antibodies.

Purolite's 100,000L agarose manufacturing facility addresses key security of supply issues in the bioprocessing industry, namely offering the first dual-source of Protein A resins, with the ability to supply 30% of global demand.
