Chris Major Promoted to General Manager for Agarose

June 21, 2021 - Llantrisant, Wales, U.K. – Purolite is pleased to announce the promotion of Chris Major to General Manager for Agarose. Chris joined Purolite in 2015 and most recently served as Global Sales Director for Agarose and Bioprocessing.

His responsibilities will include all aspects of the agarose division, from R&D to production and commercial facets. "This new role encompasses the entire operations. We want to develop the best technology for our customers and provide it faster than ever before," Chris said.

Chris's background makes him well-suited for this new role. A graduate of Teesside University (Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire in North East England), he received a Master's in Biotechnology. "Starting my career in the lab at the bench allowed me to understand the science behind our products and what it takes to develop it into a commercial offering," he noted.

Chris enjoys the team and culture at Purolite. “I have the opportunity to work with the best minds in the industry – where a culture of openness and creativity is fostered. In recent years, Purolite leveraged its bead knowledge to create uniform agarose beads. This was an industry first, I am extremely proud of this innovation."

Chris provided some insight regarding his plans for the new position. “Since 2015, we have built a solid brand with Praesto in the field of monoclonal antibody purification. Our jetting technology is the go-to resin of choice. The goal now is to expand into other application areas within the biopharmaceutical sector with gene therapy and mRNA technologies used in the purification of COVID-19 vaccines.” As part of this effort, Chris plans to improve coordination across the department groups and focus more on Purolite’s resources to develop the next generation of purification solutions.
