St David's Day Celebrations, Llantrisant | 8th March 2018

Ok…first things first; we know we’re a week late!  Due to the adverse weather conditions that hit South Wales last week (namely Storm Emma and the aptly labelled #BeastfromtheEast – thanks for that hashtag Twitter), we rapidly disappeared under a foot of snow!

Thankfully it was short lived, and we’re back to relative ‘normality’ this week.  We say relative because for love nor money, can you find a single loaf of bread in the local area!  On the plus side, the availability of welsh cakes has not been affected; great news, as marketing are using them to bribe the team of Purolite Life Sciences to turn up for the group photo this morning.

Looks like it worked.  We’ll keep that filed under ‘tips to get everyone to show up’…will pose for food!

Officially celebrated on the 1st March, St. David’s Day or Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant is the feast day of the patron saint of Wales, and marks the date of his death back in 589 AD.  It is commemorated around Wales, primarily through parades, eisteddfods and time-honoured festivities including eating traditional Welsh food and wearing traditional Welsh dress (or in our case, rugby shirts...it's about 6ºC this morning - hence why we all look a little cold!)

Aside from celebrating St David's Day, we're also pleased to be supporting and raising funds for World Kidney Day.  An annual global awareness and education event, it is held on the second Thursday in March every year, to help raise funds and awareness of the struggles that kidney patients and their families face on a daily basis.

Wishing everyone a very Happy St David's Day from all of the team at Purolite Life Sciences!

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus iawn wrth pawb o'r tîm Purolite Life Sciences!
