Coworkers join Linda Bailey in celebrating retirement

October 24, 2018—Bala Cynwyd, PA, USA—Linda Bailey, Purolite’s Senior Sales Support Specialist of 19 years, and official Cake Cutter, gave notice of retirement last month. Throughout her time here she has specialized in customer service, assigning freight, coordinating shipping, and helping to establish the relationships between customers and sales representatives. In fact, her favorite part of working at Purolite is getting to know the customers and vendors and creating the new relationships.

Linda says her favorite Purolite events were the picnics, because seeing the effort put into planning them, as well as seeing the families and different plant/office workers together is heartwarming. Her favorite memories while working at Purolite have been apologizing to an angry customer for sending him what he ordered, even though “it’s not what he likes to order,” and jokingly being called a “little Pitbull” by her cubicle neighbor, Cathy.

She feels her biggest accomplishments while at Purolite were creating relationships between the plant employees, customers, and Purolite’s sales team, coordinating logistics, and “meeting the challenge to make things happen when they need to.” Linda says her mission was always to take the most difficult situations, and transform them into an opportunity to make new friends—which, she concluded, has worked every time!

Her plans for after Purolite include spending time with her family, travelling, and baking.

When asking coworkers how they would characterize Linda, the response was always the same—a smile and a great story.

“Linda is always full of sparkle and will be dearly missed. Not only is she truly dedicated to her work and ensuring that customer orders are trouble-free, she is also really fun. She blew us away with her Halloween costumes, and made the holiday season even more special with her delicious cookies. I wish her the best upon her retirement,” notes Andrea Bartus of Purolite Marketing.

“One of my go-to people, I could always rely on her—particularly with issues in delivery. Linda would work hard on any project, even going late into the night, to find a solution to a dilemma. I have had many late-night conversations with her about projects. I will miss her very much,” muses Jack Dolan of Purchasing.

“Over the past 20 years, Linda has taken Purolite’s mission to provide world-class service to customers to heart. Building strong, long-lasting relationships with customers and sales professionals over the years, she meticulously managing accounts on a daily-basis to ensure all needs are fulfilled in a professional and timely manner. Her dedication has been the key to Linda’s success. She has also built strong relationships with our freight carriers and brokers, helping to ensure reliable and timely deliveries to our customers. We want to thank Linda for her years of service and wish her the best of luck in her retirement,” observes John Madiraca of Sales Support.

Linda’s goodbye party was held in a private room at the Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia. The room was decorated with rosy pink and silvery white balloons and flowers. Dinner, consisting of a salad, a choice of salmon, chicken or steak, and a desert was served by Delmonico’s.

Everyone enjoyed the pre-dinner seafood and reflective conversation about “the good old days.” Everyone in the room chuckled when Jack Dolan joked about the lottery tickets Linda would buy. The room all reminisced about the good times spent with Linda.

Vice President of Purolite, Jacob Brodie, presented her with a 20-year anniversary gift from Purolite, a beautiful new pen. Just shy of the full 20 years, Linda was genuinely moved by the surprise.

Upon her retirement on October 31st, she would like everyone to know that, “Purolite has been great to work for, I appreciate how they treat their customers, the sense of family, and the opportunity to make decisions crucial to doing my job effectively.”

We will all miss you, Linda, and wish you the very best in creating memories for Life’s exciting new chapter.
