Purolite attends Extraction Meeting

Purolite representatives from across the globe attended the inaugural Extraction Meeting this past week in Ottawa, Canada. The conference was attended by 800 delegates from France, Australia, Mexico, and other countries where metallurgy and related technologies makes up a large part of industry. The exhibit hall consisted of 50 vendors and Purolite had a spot up front at Booth 202. Attendees who visited the Purolite booth learned about our resins for hydrometallurgy for the removal and recovery of metals.

The conference hosted several small symposiums. Among them was the Gordon Ritcey Symposium: Advances in Hydrometallurgical Solution Purification Separations, which was sponsored by Purolite. The symposium spanned the length of the conference and was supported by presentations on membrane separation, experimental and novel adsorbents, ion exchange equipment, as well as ion exchange separation.

In addition to sponsoring the Gordon Ritcey Symposium, three team members from Purolite made presentations on the final day. Don Downey, Sales Manager (Canada), presented "Ion Exchange Resin - Pilot and Resin Testing", Mikhail Mikhaylenko, Technical Specialist (Russia), presented "Development and Screening for Resins to Recover REE and Scandium from Different Sources", and Johanna Van Deventer, Technical Specialist (South Africa), presented “The Use of Ion Exchange to Improve Revenue via the Removal of Impurities". Johanna also presided as a session chair for a portion of the program.

Extraction 2018 was organized by the Metallurgy and Materials Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining; the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration; and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society. Purolite looks forward to joining the conference again in the coming years.
