Purolite lends an ear to children’s fundraiser

Purolite has a long-standing position of supporting the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia through donations and community service. On Thursday, December 7, 2017, three Purolite employees had the opportunity to help first hand by participating in the hospital’s radiothon powered by 98.1 WOGL radio station. The “98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon” is a two-day event held in the main hub of the Philadelphia based hospital to raise money for services insurance won’t provide.

Throughout the day, 10 volunteers from various philanthropic companies manned the telephones ready to take donations from anyone who wanted to give to others this holiday season. In its 16th year, the fundraiser was able to raise over $300,000 to support family programs available to children and their parents staying at the hospital. This effort is made so children who are experiencing some of life’s tragic circumstances can find a little bit of happiness in their fight to live. Purolite receptionist Doree Jacobs, Steve West in Production Operations, and HR Assistant Dominique Town lent their time to help this amazing cause.

For Doree and Steve, this was their second year volunteering at the radiothon.

“It’s such a great time and anyone who has the opportunity to help out should definitely do it,” is a familiar statement from Doree, “these children are amazing and it feels awesome to help them!” In addition to the radiothon team members, the children were also paid a visit from Belle, Wonder Woman, and Spiderman.

Purolite is happy to contribute donations throughout the year to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We thank everyone who makes those donations possible and all those who gave generously in time and money to this year’s fundraiser.
