Lifetech ECR8309M is a methacrylate polymer functionalised with amino groups on a short spacer (C2). It is used for covalent enzyme immobilization by pre-activation of the resin with glutaraldehyde and to subsequently form very stable covalent linkages with different protein groups (amino, thiol, phenolic) under very mild experimental conditions of pH and temperature, at low ionic buffer strength. It can also be used for  enzyme immobilization by ionic interaction of the ionizable surface aminoacids (Lys, Arg, His, Asp, Glu) with the charged amines on the polymer. Lifetech ECR8309M main features are the medium porosity, the hydrophilicity and its optimal use in batch reactors and columns.

Principal Applications

  • Covalent immobilization of enzymes (requires resin pre-activation with glutaraldehyde)
  • Can be used also for direct ionic enzyme immobilization
  • Ionic immobilization requires pH adjustment (resin is supplied at neutral pH)
