Heavy Metals Removal |
|
 |
Heavy metals, such as Lead, Copper, Zinc, and Silver, are typically present as multivalent cations. These ions are strongly held by both Strong Acid and Weak Acid Cation resins.
In potable water supplies heavy metals are normally present at very low levels. Even so, drinking water benefits greatly by the removal of these contaminants, and systems have been independently designed to achieve this. Such designs are typically "throw away", non-regenerable, in-line or pour-through cartridges.
For such cartridge type use, we generally recommend Purolite® Weak Acid Cation resin C107E
In industrial waste waters, heavy metals are usually present in much higher concentrations and need to be removed for obvious environmental reasons. For a more detailed review on specific heavy metal contaminant removal, please see the Purolite Chelation Systems bulletin.
Purolite® Weak Acid Cation resins, like C107E above, are usually supplied in the standard hydrogen (H +) form, and can be used as such for the above application. However, if Purolite Strong Acid Cation resins are demanded for heavy metals removal, we generally recommend either C100 type or C150 type Purolite SAC resins.
