Industrial water covers a number of different markets. They all have in common the provision of water to a pre-defined level of quality. The basic application is demineralisation of the water prior to further use in boilers and downstream production processes requiring purity of water to meet finished product performance specifications.
The main industry groups fall into a number of categories:
- Iron and steel
- Power generation
- Oil and petrochemical
- Electronics
Many others, however, utilise basic demineralisation to treat in-house boiler feed waters. Purolite's global share of the IWT market is estimated to be at least 40%. Purolite is continually innovating in this sector, introducing new added value products. Industrial Water Quality Industrial water quality falls into four categories: - Crude demineralised water up to 30% µS/cm
- Standard water < 10 µS/cm
- Polished water < 0.3 µS/cm
- Ultrapure water 18 MOhm.cm
