Radium & Barium Removal

Purolite® Strong Acid Cation (SAC) resins, in the Sodium form, can be used for the removal of either or both of these problem contaminants.

Barium is an inorganic contaminant that will be removed up to the capacity of a Purolite SAC resin for total hardness removal.

Radium 226 and Radium 228 are radionuclides that can be removed by the Purolite resin beyond its capacity for total hardness removal.

It is, therefore, best for either application to limit the service cycle to the capacity of the Purolite resin for removal of total hardness.

Sodium or Potassium Chloride are the regenerants of choice.

Typical Purolite® resin recommendations include:
C100 type resins
C150 type resins
