Low Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Resins

Purolite manufactures two Purolite® grades of low Total Organic Carbon (TOC) resins - our standard Purolite SC (Semi-Conductor) resins and the Purolite Picopure range for Ultra Pure Water production.

For regenerable service deionisation (SDI) or portable exchange (PE) systems, where TOC readings must be less than 50 ppb after rinsing with 40 Bed Volumes (BV) or less, Purolite’s SC grade resins can be used. Achieving a 50 ppb TOC level after the resins have been installed will depend on the quality of the rinse water
.
All Purolite® SC grade resins are cycled to remove the organic residuals that are left on ion exchange resins after manufacturing. Purolite's SC grade products are highly regenerated in the H+ and OH- forms.

Typical analyses for the various Purolite® SC products are listed below.

A number of single component or mixed bed Purolite SC grade products are readily available. The mixed bed resins are blended using a 60:40 anion to cation ratio by volume, or a 1:1 chemical equivalent ratio. All mixed beds are evaluated as per ASTM D-3375-84 using a salt solution until the resin is exhausted. During the exhaustion an in-line resistivity meter records how quickly acceptable water purity is reached, and for how long it is maintained. Every batch of Purolite Semi-Conductor grade resin is tested to this standard. Prior to shipment these Purolite resins are guaranteed to meet 18.3 megohm-cm quality.
